AMLI Evanston Breaks Ground at Chicago/Kedzie
AMLI Residential, a multi-family real estate developer, closed on its land assemblage in Evanston and has begun demolition of three vacant and distressed buildings December 1 in preparation for the construction of a new 214-unit luxury rental apartment community to be called AMLI Evanston. Apartments will be designed for LEED Silver certification, with emphasis on green building and in-town, healthy living.
The new community will be conveniently located on Chicago Avenue, just south of Main Street, within walking distance of three train stations, two bus lines, St. Francis Hospital, eclectic shopping, diverse restaurants, cultural activities and the beaches of Lake Michigan.
“This is yet another great project that will provide quality housing and help boost the local economy along the Chicago Avenue corridor and we welcome AMLI Residential to Evanston,” explained Alderman Melissa Wynne (3rd Ward). “In addition to these high quality rental units, Chicago Avenue is also receiving a makeover by CTA in its much needed repair of the Purple Line retaining wall and three viaducts and by the future efforts of the City of Evanston on its upcoming Chicago Avenue Streetscape project.”

AMLI Evanston will have one, two and three bedroom apartment homes, several live-work lofts, retail shops, and on-site parking. Contemporary apartment interiors will feature fully-equipped kitchens with stainless appliances, granite countertops and faux wood flooring.
AMLI Evanston is designed to qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification. Additionally, the community will participate in AMLI’s "Breatheasy" program, which prohibits smoking by residents and guests inside apartment homes and throughout the community, creating a healthy and clean living environment for residents.
