Evanston Police Investigate Suicide Related to Chicago Murder
Evanston Police Detectives are currently investigating a body found in the rear of 100 block of Clyde Ave. The subject appears to have suffered a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head. Police have confirmed the identity of the deceased as Donte Simmons M/B 33 years old and a Chicago resident of nearby Rogers Park. A 9mm handgun was recovered by police at the scene.
Donte Simmons was wanted by the Chicago Police Department for a homicide that occurred in the River North neighborhood of Chicago yesterday at approx. 10PM. Chicago Police detectives from Area 3 are currently investigating this homicide along with another homicide that occurred yesterday near the Evanston border just south of Calvary Cemetary.
In that incident, a body was found near the corner of Chicago Ave. and Juneway Terr. The victim suffered several gunshots and has not been identified at this point in time. Evanston Police were on scene at this Chicago shooting. Earlier Evanston Police responded to a call of several shots fired in the area of the 700 block of Seward St. at just before 11PM. Evanston Police believe at this time, the shots fired call on Seward Ave. is related to the homicide that occurred on Chicago Ave. and Juneway Terr. A 9mm handgun was also used in that incident.
