E.P.D. Arrest Residential & Garage Burglary Offenders
For just over the past week, Evanston Police detectives were investigating leads developed from a residential burglary that occurred back on January 15, 2012 in the 1000 block of Michigan Ave. This residential burglary had approximately $20,000 in proceeds taken, that included jewelry, computers, cameras, I-pods and a guitar.
One detective had become aware that a laptop computer and a guitar were sold to a business in Niles, Illinois called Cash Convertors. This detective then learned who had sold these items to the business. Back tracking and locating this subject, detectives were able to develop information on the subject who committed the residential burglary.
The burglary suspect was then arrested and detectives were able to further cultivate information about three other subjects involved in the residential burglary from the 1000 block of Michigan Ave. As a result of the continuing investigation, detectives arrested the other three subjects for a total of four offenders involved in the residential burglary. Those subjects are Shawn Wallace, Ethan Strong, Matthew May and Jordan Reid. The offenders are all from Evanston and each charged with one count of residential burglary.
Detectives were able to recover several items that were taken in this burglary which included watches, a guitar and documents all of which came from the victim’s residence on Michigan Ave. Additionally, two motor scooters were recovered that came from a separate burglary to a garage in the 2500 block of Lincoln Ave. from February 17th. As a result of these items being recovered and interviews with detectives, Ethan Strong, Matthew May and Jordan Reid were each charged with an additional count of burglary.
Other items recovered by police from one of the arrestee’s vehicles linked these subjects who worked as crew, to residential burglaries in Deerfield and Highland Park that occurred over the past month. Investigators from those jurisdictions were notified by the Evanston Police Department as to the information learned during the course of this investigation. It is unknown if any further charges were filed by those agencies at this time.
