Sherman Plaza Parking Garage Façade Inspection Starts March 12
The City of Evanston has contracted with Wiss, Janney, Elstner, Associates, Inc., structural engineering consultants, to do an inspection of the façade panels on the Sherman Plaza Parking Garage located on the corner of Davis St. and Benson Ave.
The consultants will be looking for any possible deterioration of the panels on the 12-story parking garage. Protective scaffolding has already been erected over the sidewalks on both streets and the inspection will begin Monday, March 12, 2012. The sidewalks will remain open.
Engineers will use a swing stage (similar to the window washing units used to clean windows on taller buildings) starting with the south and west sides. The final stage of the inspection will then be to survey the façade on the alley side to the north.
