Aging Well Film Festival Focuses on LGBT Seniors
The14th Annual Aging Well Film Festival will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. It features director Sut Maddux’s award-winning and critically acclaimed documentary, Gen Silent, which follows the day-to-day lives and struggles of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) seniors.
The documentary asks six LGBT seniors if they will hide their friends, their spouses – their entire lives – in order to survive in the care system. Their surprising decisions are captured through intimate access to their day-to-day lives over the course of a year. Admission to the Film Festival is free. Registration is not necessary, but seating space is limited.
The Aging Well Film Festival is being held in conjunction with 14th Annual Aging Well Conference, which will be held on Friday, May 4. For more information about the film festival or conference, click here or call Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes (SASI) at 847/864-7274.
