E.P.D. Arrests Juvenile Residential Burglary Offenders

Evanston Police on Saturday May 26th during the Memorial Day weekend, arrested four juveniles in connection with a residential burglary that occurred in the 2600 block of Prairie Ave. at approximately 10:35AM. Police initially responded to a call of a burglary that just occurred and while responding to the area, police located the offenders who all fled on foot in different directions. E.P.D. Releases the 2011 Annual Report

In comparison to the year 2010, overall crime saw a very minor reduction of .3 percent.  There were 2324 part I crimes reported in 2011 compared to 2331 in 2010. However, the most significant reductions occurred in the area of violent crime. Draft Water Efficiency Plan Now Available for Public Comment

The City of Evanston is seeking public input on its draft Water Efficiency Plan document. In 2011, the City of Evanston was awarded a Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) technical assistance grant to assist the city in developing a water conservation and efficiency plan. Citizen Police Academy Class 35 Graduates

The Evanston Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of Citizen Police Academy Class 35 that took place Thursday evening, May 17th at Northwestern University’s Hardin Hall. Twenty-seven people graduated after completing the 12 week program.   This program consisted of learning about the various tasks performed by the different police units within the department. Evanston Police Announce Traffic Enforcement Initiative

Evanston Animal Control Reports Found Toy Poodle

The City of Evanston’s Animal Control Bureau has apprehended a lost apricot colored toy poodle in the 1000 block of Harvard Terrace on Evanston’s south side on April 27, 2012. Private Elm Insurance Deadline is May 31

Once an elm tree is diagnosed with Dutch Elm Disease, the City of Evanston requires removal of the tree within 30 days. If the diseased tree is located on private property, the property owner must bear the cost of removal. This cost can range from approximately $1,000 for medium-sized trees, to over $4,000 for very large trees. City Announces Street Resurfacing Projects for 2012

Starting May 7, 2012 for eight weeks, the city will be contracting road resurfacing work on nine street segments throughout Evanston.  This project involves curb replacements as needed; roadway base repair; replacement of asphalt surfaces from curb to curb; and selected sidewalk and driveway apron replacements. The road work is part of the city's continuous program to improve the road system throughout the community.
