Evanston Public Library Will Host History Exhibit
EPL Hosts Changing Worlds' Oral History and Photography Exhibit Evanston Public Library (EPL) is delighted to host an astounding interactive oral history exhibit on the immigrant experience courtesy of Changing Worlds. The exhibit will be housed in the EPL Children's room from June 18th-29th. Through the stories of immigrants and refugee families, Changing Worlds' oral history and photography traveling exhibit gives voice and a face to those often seen and heard through the filters of stereotype and prejudice, and offers an introduction to diverse cultures.
For 15 years, Changing Worlds has partnered with more than 50 public schools, community-based and civic organizations in Chicago and beyond. Annually, it reaches more than 10,000 students, and community members through its combined arts and cultural awareness programs.
Changing Worlds' mission is to foster inclusive communities through oral history, writing and art programs that improve student learning, affirm identity and enhance cross-cultural understanding. It works toward its mission through separate, yet interconnected program areas that include In-School and After-School Programs, Teacher Professional Development Workshops and Community Outreach Initiatives including Oral History and Photography Traveling Exhibits.
This event is co-sponsored by the City of Evanston Parks & Recreation.
