E.P.D. Wants Neighborhoods to Organize for "National Night Out" Against Crime
The Evanston Police Department is asking local community groups and neighborhoods to organize for the upcoming annual National Night Out, Tuesday, August 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
National Night Out is a crime prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is designed to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention. National Night Out also strengthens neighborhood groups in organizing and fighting back against crime in communities.
Neighborhoods are asked to turn on their front porch lights in support of this event and to show unity against crime. The police department asks that neighborhood block groups hold a block party or cook out during the designated time of the event and register with the attached form so visits can be scheduled by police personnel to engage community groups and block clubs during the National Night Out Celebration. The community and the police working together, can stop crime on all levels.
