City of Evanston Winter Holiday Closures

The City of Evanston has announced its hours of operation along with its recycling and refuse schedule for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Monday, December 24, 2012 - Christmas Eve
No refuse or recycling collections will occur on Monday, December 24 or Tuesday, December 25. Collection will resume on Wednesday, December 26 and take place later that week.

The Morton Civic Center and Evanston Public Libraries will be closed December 24. The Robert Crown Center will close at 2 p.m. on December 24. All the other community centers will be closed on December 24.

The City of Evanston’s 3-1-1 Call Center will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on December 24.

Tuesday, December 25, 2012 - Christmas Day
The Morton Civic Center, Evanston Public Libraries and all of the city's community centers will be closed December 25.

Monday, December 31, 2012 – New Year’s Eve
The Levy Senior Center will be closed at 5 p.m. on December 31 (no evening programs). The Chandler-Newberger Center will be closed December 31. The Robert Crown Center will be closed at 5 p.m. on December 31. The Noyes Cultural Arts Center will close at 8:00 p.m. on December 31.

The Evanston Public Libraries will close at 5 p.m. on December 31.

Tuesday, January 1, 2013 – New Year’s Day
No refuse or recycling collections will occur on Tuesday, January 1 and collections will resume Wednesday, January 2 and take place later that week.
