Posted on Friday Dec 21, 2012

The Evanston Police Department's Problem Solving Team officers along with volunteers from the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and student volunteers from Evanston Township High School distributed holiday food baskets to over 125 Evanston families on December 21. Funding for this annual charity endeavor has been made possible through personal donations by police department employees for over the past 31 years.

Recipients of today's food basket delivery live in four senior citizen buildings in Evanston. Ebenezer Primm Towers, Jacob Blake Manor, the Housing Authority of Cook County Buildings at Perlman Apartments and Walchirk Apartments. Also, some select needy families received food baskets that reside in other locations throughout Evanston.

Business's that support the Evanston Police Department’s annual charity event include, Sam’s Club, Bechara's Wholefood, Inc., Highland Baking Company, and Dominick's Foods.

This year’s basket included ham, chicken, vegetables, sausage, fresh fruit, bread, apple sauce, soups, & cookies.  Additional food was also delivered to an area soup kitchen and food pantry for the needy. This photo shows volunteers who particpated in the program from this year's event.
