Energy Efficiency Challenge Pits Evanston against Oak Park

Posted on Tuesday Feb 12, 2013

A local non-profit will win an energy efficiency retrofit, so sign up for an energy efficiency program before April 30 so they win more money!

There is still time to help raise up to $25,000 for the YWCA in the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program Community Challenge. More than $14,000 have been raised to date and action is needed by April 30 to contribute an additional $50 for each program participant to the YWCA’s prize. You can help by signing-up for EnergyBUZZ, a free on-line tool to help you track your energy use and earn rewards for the energy-efficient choices you make. You can also receive a home energy assessment under the Home Energy Savings program to identify promising energy-efficiency upgrades and receive instant rebates if you complete the recommended work.

The City of Evanston is participating in the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program Community Challenge from February 2013 through April 2013 with the goal of reducing community energy usage. By enrolling new participants in one of six existing Nicor Gas programs, Evanston will raise up to $25,000 in prize money and a potential $85,000 in rebate and incentive offerings from Nicor Gas to be used towards a community project. The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program Community Challenge is a new initiative to help foster energy efficiency awareness and action within two local communities. This first Community Challenge will take place in Evanston and Oak Park, with plans to expand to other communities in the future.
