Celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day with the City of Evanston April 27
The City of Evanston annually celebrates Earth Day and Arbor Day with activities that support our community’s commitment to environmental protection and stewardship. This year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is calling on citizens to get involved in Earth Day in three distinct ways: Commit to protect the environment, Take Action to do your part and Educate yourself and others. Join Evanston in one of the projects below and help preserve, protect and enhance our planet and natural resources.
Commit to Saving Energy and Help the YWCA Evanston/Northshore
Make a commitment to reducing energy usage and sign up for one of two energy efficiency programs with Nicor Gas. Participate by April 30 and help raise $25,000 for the YWCA Evanston/Northshore as part of the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program Challenge.
- EnergyBUZZ is a free, online tool that helps you track your energy usage to save money and earn rewards for the energy-efficient choices you make. Commit to using less energy today and let EnergyBUZZ show you how.
The Home Energy Savings program is a joint program of Nicor Gas and ComEd that makes it easy for homeowners to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of their home. The program includes a complete Home Energy Savings assessment which identifies promising energy-efficiency upgrades, provides instant rebates if you complete the recommended work and connects homeowners to prequalified contractors to help get the work done. Assessments are being provided at a deeply discounted rate.
