Chandler-Newberger Community Center offers comprehensive programs for infants through adults.
Chandler-Newberger Community Center manages a variety of citywide programs conducted at 20 sites throughout Evanston. Programs are managed at facilities including City parks, park shelters, tennis courts, beaches, public schools and Chandler-Newberger Center. Annual attendance is over 7,000 program and drop-in registrations.
Programs include fifteen (15) types of summer day camps for preschoolers and school-aged youth. In addition, the center conducts: after-school sports classes, youth basketball leagues, youth flag football leagues, preschool play groups, youth chess, adult/youth fencing, preschool art-music classes, youth gymnastics, roller skating, birthday party rentals and more. Staff also oversees the citywide tennis program for all ages including tennis classes, leagues and private lessons.
Several programs receive volunteer help from generous Evanston residents. Each year, about 150 Evanston residents volunteer to help, primarily by coaching in youth leagues or tournaments, as well as chaperoning, during summer camp field trips.
