Citizen Police Academy Application

 

Time & Location:

Each class is two hours in length from 7 to 9 pm one night a week for 12 consecutive weeks. All classes are held at the Evanston Police Headquarters in the Fire Department training room.

Each student must be 18 years of age. Attendance is required. However, a student may receive two authorized absences. The class is approximately 25 students. Each student must complete an application. In addition to class attendance, each student must complete a four hour ride-along and a three hour instruction period in the communications center.

Benefits:
The student receives an overall understanding of the operation of the department. The class sessions help create a greater awareness for the students of the police's role in their neighborhoods. The students receive information and strategies that will help them work with other citizens in their areas in reference to police matters. They are able to learn how to effectively work in partnership with the police to make their neighborhoods safer. Students are committed to working with the department in their neighborhoods upon graduation. Class schedule & location may be subject to change due to instructor or facility commitments.
