Transportation & Engineering
The Transportation and Engineering Division administers the following programs:
- Parking Services
- Street resurfacing and reconstruction
- Alley paving through the special assessment program
- Replacement of curbs and sidewalks through a program in which the City and resident each pay half
- Bridge repair and replacement
- Sewer repairs related to road construction
- Issuance of various permits including those for driveways, utility work on the right-of-way, garage aprons, street and parkway excavations, and sidewalk work
- Traffic and Parking studies
- Responding to service requests from many sources

Managing the City's Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program which places traffic circles, speed humps, speed bumps, and other devices which reduce the speed and volume of traffic in our neighborhoods

Alley Speed Bump Program
- Reviewing and approving permits for items and programs such as block parties, dumpsters, & valet parking
- Monitoring and correction of High Accident Locations
- Fabricating, installing, and maintaining all traffic signs and pavement marking
- Maintaining all traffic signals and street lighting throughout the City
- Developing and implementing traffic control plans for special events
- Developing and implementing signal timing plans and other measures to ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic
