If you are interested in volunteering with the City of Evanston please complete the Volunteer Application Form or find a specific volunteer opportunity just right for you below. Once you have expressed an interest you will be contacted within two weeks regarding volunteer opportunities. WHY VOLUNTEER FOR THE CITY OF EVANSTON?
Volunteering for the City of Evanston will allow you to connect, strengthen and enhance City services through a variety of volunteer opportunities available to you within City government.
The City is committed to:
1. Increase public awareness of municipal services and operations
2. Support innovative ways of solving community problems through volunteer efforts;
3. Allow and enhance citizen participation in City government;
4. Assist City departments in strengthening service delivery by using volunteers to complement paid staff;
5. Expand the level and delivery of public service beyond tax support limitations;
6. Promote partnerships between City and local college resources, evaluation, and expertise to local community.

VOLUNTEER EVANSTON PROGRAM (VEP)
Volunteer Evanston is a community website that connects individuals with volunteer opportunities in Evanston.
This effort to promote volunteerism is part of a collaborative effort with the City of Evanston, Northwestern University, Evanston Community Foundation, School District 202 and School District 65.
Volunteer Evanston serves as a community hub for Evanston's wide array of opportunities and events for volunteers. The website features:
- Easy searches for opportunities by interests
- Opportunities for kids, teens, seniors, disabled, and families
- Various organizations with volunteer opportunities in Evanston
- On-going and/or date-specific volunteer opportunities
- Contact information of Volunteer Coordinator for each opportunity
- Volunteer Profile and user account
- Enables volunteers to track hours of service
- "Spotlight" of volunteers, organizations, and opportunities
