2013 Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program
The Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) is a City of Evanston workforce development program created in 1992 by City of Evanston Resolution 32-R-92. Youth accepted into the program will be placed at private businesses and organizations as well as City of Evanston departments/divisions. Youth interested in participating in the 2013 MSYEP are required to attend one of three orientation sessions taking place at Evanston Township High School, all sessions are facilitated by the Youth Job Center of Evanston, Inc., covering such issues as workplace etiquette, customer service and career planning.
Through the MSYEP, we strive to provide youth with the opportunity to:
• Promote sustainable workforce development in Evanston youth and for Evanston businesses;
• Learn and develop the skills, attitude and commitment necessary to succeed in today’s world of work;
• Gain exposure to exciting career industries;
• Earn money and gain a meaningful work experience; and
• Interact with dynamic working professionals in a positive work environment.
We are please to announce the launch of a new online registration system to improve the application process for youth interested in working this summer and businesses/organizations interested in serving as MSYEP worksites.
