Even though Evanston provides different commuting options through biking and public transportation , there are some instances where you will still need to use a car. However, owning a car has become less of a necessity with the recent implementation of car sharing networks becoming available.
Car Sharing Networks
iGo - iGo provides Evanston residents with the option of temporarily renting a car whenever the need arises. With multiple different payment and renting options, it has become much easier to get by without owning a car. Click here for iGo's map of car locations.
Zipcar - Zipcar is another car sharing network that enables its members to use a car on demand. Like iGo, Zipcar has allowed people to enjoy the use of a car without the hassle of actually owning their own. This has helped people save money while also reducing overall congestion, all with the added benefit of lowering carbon emissions. Here is a map of the different locations of Zipcar's fleet in Evanston.
Vehicles propelled by electric-engines instead of gasoline-engines are an attempt to suppliment the need for driving with a cleaner alternative. Click here for more information on what these vehicles are and the considerations that should take place before purchasing one.
