Electrical Service Damage
Following a severe storm, there is a chance that damage has occurred to an electrical service. When service damage occurs, it's important to understand who is responsible for the repair. The following document differentiates the areas ComEd and the owner are responsible for.

Electricity Supply
The Illinois Electric Service Customer Choice and Rate Relief Law of 1997 restructured the state's electric service industry to allow a choice of electric suppliers. With electric choice, the electric supply may now be provided by different companies known as Retail Electric Suppliers (RESs). For more information about electricity choice, visit pluginillinois.org.
Community Choice Electricity Aggregation (CCA)
Community Choice Electricity Aggregation (CCA) allows local governments the option to bundle together residential and small commercial retail electric accounts and seek proposals for a cheaper, and possibly cleaner, sources of power. More information is available here>>
For more information on Community Choice Aggregation in Evanston, including details on its approval and implementation, please visit the City’s Sustainability webpage on electricity aggregation.
