2017 MSYEP Job Fair Attracts Record 863 Evanston Youth
A record 863 Evanston youth ages 14 to 18 attended the 2017 Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) Job Fair at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) on Saturday, March 11. It was the program's largest job fair ever.
The City of Evanston thanks the 41 local employers who offered summer and year-round employment opportunities at the fair, including NorthShore University HealthSystem, Northwestern University, Rotary International, Six Flags Great America, McGaw YMCA, Salvation Army-Evanston, YoFresh Yogurt Cafe, Cinemark/Century Theatres, and many more. A total of 1,000 job opportunities were available.
To help students prepare for the job fair, the City's Youth and Young Adult Division, in partnership with the Youth Job Center of Evanston, held three pre-fair job readiness workshops focused on resume building and writing, interviewing skills, and workplace culture and etiquette. Youth and Young Adult Division staff also offered job fair information and application help sessions at Evanston community centers, public library locations and ETHS cafeterias.
The City of Evanston thanks the many organizations, event volunteers, job providers, staff and community partners, including Acquirent Chairman and CEO Joseph Flanagan, who helped make the 2017 job fair a success.
