Officer & Gentlemen Academy Kicks Off Second Year January 27
Community members are invited to attend a kick-off event celebrating the second year of the Officer & Gentlemen Academy this Saturday, January 27, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, 1823 Church St.
The Officer & Gentlemen Academy is a male mentoring program that aims to educate, inspire and empower young men in middle school to reach their full potential through enrichment activities, experiential learning, team-building exercises and more. The program is a partnership of the Evanston Police Department and Evanston/Skokie School District 65.
The kick-off event will provide community members with an overview of the program as well as an opportunity to meet and support the young men participating. The event will be hosted by Karli Butler of Curt’s Café. Guest speakers include 5th Ward Alderman Robin Rue Simmons and Curt’s Café Board President Rick Marsh.
