Asphalt Pavement Patching Begins
The City of Evanston will be patching large areas of asphalt pavement at approximately 150 locations over the next four weeks, weather permitting. The work will improve the condition of nearly 27,000 square yards of pavement. (View a map of 2018 patching locations.)
During construction, motorists should expect minor delays near work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews. "No Parking" restrictions for this project should be short in duration and specific to the daily work zones. Signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of when the restriction is enforced and will be removed as soon as the work is completed.
Work at most locations should only take a few hours to complete, with a few exceptions where larger areas of pavement will be resurfaced. This project will require removing the top two inches of distressed and failing asphalt and replacing it with a fresh, smooth asphalt surface. Once the asphalt is laid, compacted and cooled, the street will be opened and ready for traffic.
The contractor for this project is J.A. Johnson Paving, Inc., 1025 Addison Ct., Arlington Heights, IL. The contractor is contractually responsible for the means and methods of the work.
This project is monitored by the City’s Public Services Bureau. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact Project Manager Don Cornelius at 3-1-1 or 847-866-2944.
