'Topdog/Underdog' On Stage July 14-29
Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre’s (FJT) 2018 Summertime Season will continue July 14-29 with performances of "Topdog/Underdog," by Suzan-Lori Parks. Performances will take place on Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St., in Evanston.
"Topdog/Underdog" is a 2002 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by one of America’s most celebrated playwrights. This eloquently profane story exposes the traps of being African American and male in the United States and the masks these men must wear to survive. Brothers Lincoln and Booth are the cornerstones of this thrilling comic drama, giving insight into the role of deception and betrayal in some black men’s lives.
Tickets are $15 in advance online at fjtheatre.com and at Evanston recreation community centers. Tickets may be purchased at the door on the performance day for $25. Seniors and students with ID can purchase tickets at a discounted price of $15 at the door only.
FJT's Summertime Season features three plays and two concerts, as well as an end-of-season Wine & Dine Gala. Community members can enjoy admission to the remaining two plays and two concerts, along with other specials announced during the season, by purchasing a Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre Premium Gold Member Card for $65.
