Post Date:07/10/2018 11:29 AM

World Arts Music Festival_logo_webCommunity members are invited to travel the world without leaving town at the World Arts and Music Festival at Arrington Lakefront Lagoon at Dawes Park on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22, from noon to 7 p.m.

The free, two-day event transforms Evanston’s lakefront into a global village to celebrate diversity worldwide. Visitors can enjoy art from an abundance of countries, family crafts activities, international cuisine, and live music and dance performances.

Many of the best ethnic entertainers from the metropolitan Chicago area and beyond will perform, including Juan Pablo Diaz, Nkulee DubeAlma Afrobeat Ensemble and more. Food vendors include Anthony's Italian Ice, Babushka's Polish Food, Café Coralie, C&W Market and Ice Cream Parlor, Mt. Everest Restaurant, Red Hot Chili Pepper, TasteBudz, Table to Stix, Cocina Azteca and Cevapcici. A complete list of performers, vendors and artists can be found at cityofevanston.org/worldarts.

Dawes Park is located between Davis and Church Streets on the city's lakefront, just a few blocks east of the Davis Street Metra and CTA stations. Free weekend parking is available north of Centennial and Dawes Parks at the Northwestern University parking lot and the adjacent Segal Visitors Center parking garage at 1841 Sheridan Rd. Those parking in the Northwestern lot or garage can access the festival by walking south along the lakefront path or taking the free City of Evanston festival shuttle bus, which travels between the parking lot and the festival grounds.

Snapchat users can share their experience using the special World Arts and Music Festival filter available at the event.

The festival is presented by the City of Evanston with support from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Sponsors include the Evanston RoundTable, Hoy, The Homestead, Hearth Restaurant, Renewal by Andersen, Blick Art Materials, Firehouse Grill, Candlelite Chicago and Peet's Coffee.
