"Women Speak" Event on November 7
"Women Speak," an evening of art, conversation, community and inspiration will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Morton Civic Center, Parasol Room, 4th floor, 2100 Ridge Ave., in Evanston. Admission is free and open to the public with an RSVP. The Evanston Arts Council, the City of Evanston and Evanston Made are sponsoring the event, which is being organized by Fran Joy, an artist, social justice advocate and life coach.
Fran Joy's work is currently on exhibit in the Parasol Room and will inform a discussion titled, "A Celebration of the Strength and Spirit of Women." A panel of women will speak on topics including faith, community building, social justice, and personal growth. Lisa Degliantoni, founder of 1100 Florence and Evanston Made, will serve as moderator.
Panel speakers are Meleika Gardner, founder of Evanston Live TV and ELTV Network; Monique Brunson Jones, president and CEO of Evanston Community Foundation; Joi Anissa Russell, director of strategic partnerships with the Moran Center; Susana Sandoval, UN human rights commissioner, multidisciplinary artist and community developer; Cindy Jones, producer, writer and spoken word artist; Angela Valavanis, founder of Creative CoWorking and the historic Colvin House; Chloe Smith, ETHS 2020 honor student; Malik Turley, founder of Hip Circle Studio; Karli Butler, social director, Curt's Cafe South; Dr. Natalee Olson, chiropractor; and Dickelle Fonda, psychotherapist, social justice activist, trauma survivor, #MeToo.
