Shop Evanston this Holiday Season
Evanston residents and visitors are encouraged to kick off the holiday shopping season by supporting the city's small, local shops and business districts on national Small Business Saturday, November 24.
Observed annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to support the small, independent businesses that help make their communities special.
Shoppers can pick up a "We Love Evanston" Passport at participating downtown Evanston businesses. Those who spend at least $100 will get a tote bag filled with goodies, including a coffee mug, custom-designed coaster and a pound of Colectivo Coffee. The "We Love Evanston" gift bags will be available for pickup between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 at One River School, 1033 Davis St.
Main-Dempster Mile shoppers can play "Monopoly on the Mile," earning prizes for making purchases at select businesses, including Sketchbook, Squeezebox Books & Music, Board & Brush Creative Studio, and many others.
Brunch and lunch specials will be available at restaurants throughout the city, helping shoppers fuel a fun day of shopping.
From Saturday, November 24 through Saturday, January 5, Evanston shoppers can have their parking validated at participating Evanston businesses with a qualifying purchase. Validation can be used for free two-hour parking at City meters, lots and garages on weekdays, from 5 p.m. to midnight, and all day on Saturdays. Shoppers parking at City meters and lots must use the Park Evanston mobile app in order to redeem validation. Parking is free at City meters, lots and garages on Sundays.
