Outdoor Piano Arrives On Howard Street
Look and listen for the new public piano on Howard Street! The piano, donated by a local family and decorated by Evanston artist Kristi Cahill, will travel up and down the 500 to 700 blocks of Howard Street, and will be stationed in front of local Howard Street businesses.
8th Ward Alderman Ann Rainey, local business owners, and neighbors came out to celebrate the arrival of the piano on May 22.
The piano is part of the "Play Me, I'm Yours" initiative, which has so far installed more than 1,900 street pianos in over 60 cities across the globe for everyone to play and enjoy. Community members are encouraged to play the piano on their next visit to one of Howard Street's many local businesses.
A cover will help protect the piano from inclement weather. In the coming weeks, the piano will also be tuned.
