City of Evanston Announces 2019 Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

Happy ThanksgivingThe City of Evanston has announced changes in service delivery and facility hours in recognition of the 2019 Thanksgiving holiday.

Refuse Collection
No collections will occur on Thursday, November 28. Thursday's trash, food and yard waste and recycling collections will occur on Friday, November 29. Friday condo trash and recycling collections will occur on Saturday, November 30.

The 311 Service Center will be closed Thursday, November 28, and will be open for regular hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday, November 29.

Facilities

  • The Morton Civic Center will be closed November 28 through December 1.
  • All Evanston Public Library locations will be closed November 28.
  • The Robert Crown Center will be closed November 28. 
  • The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Gibbs-Morrison Center, Levy Senior Center, Chandler-Newberger Community Center, Evanston Ecology Center and Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be closed November 28 and 29.

Parking
Thanksgiving is a City of Evanston parking holiday. In addition, from Saturday, November 30 through Saturday, January 4, Evanston shoppers can have their parking validated at participating Evanston businesses with a qualifying purchase. Validation can be used for free two-hour parking at City meters and surface lots on any day of the week. Shoppers must use the Park Evanston mobile app in order to redeem validation.
