Free Sunday Parking Returns in 2020
Updated street parking, lot and garage rates also take effect
Free Sunday parking at City meters and pay stations will return in the New Year as part of the City's 2020 Adopted Budget. In addition, new parking rates will take effect at paid on-street parking spaces and in the City garages.
On Thursday, January 2, the hourly rate to park at a pay station will increase from $1.50 to $2 per hour citywide. Parking on Sundays will be free and the commuter lot rates will remain at $0.50 an hour.
On Saturday, February 1, the fee structure for monthly and hourly parking in the City's three downtown garages will change due to a new parking tax imposed by the State of Illinois. Parking in City garages will remain free for one hour or less, and all day on Sundays.
Drivers are encouraged to continue to use the convenient Park Evanston mobile app to pay for parking. As a reminder, users will not be charged the 35-cent transaction fee when using the wallet function of the app.
