City Seeking Local Restaurant Partner(s) to Launch the New Robert Crown Food Program
The City of Evanston Parks & Recreation Department and Economic Development Division are hosting an information session and kitchen tour for Evanston-based restaurants at the new Robert Crown Community Center and Library on Wed., Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m.
At the session, the City will seek input from local restaurants on the viability and interest for restaurant or concession pop-ups and partnership opportunities, as well as functionality of the kitchen space, equipment, and dining area. The City will accept proposals and letters of intent for short term usage of the space beginning February 20. Numerous letters of intent for short term usage will likely be accepted during a trial period as the Center's new operations plan evolves.
With a vision to elevate the food program at Robert Crown beyond a traditional concession stand, the City hopes to provide a unique opportunity to highlight Evanston’s local restaurants. If achieved, the kitchen/restaurant space will primarily serve patrons visiting Robert Crown for sports activities, but will also serve library patrons and those visiting the center for community meetings and special events.
The new Robert Crown Community Center and Library will be fully operational by Sat., Feb. 29 and will serve the community year round. With the completion of the outdoor sports fields in the summer of 2020, additional food sales and catering opportunities will arise.
