City of Evanston Channel 16 has been recognized with four Telly Awards and a Hometown Media Award for its public information video campaigns focused on recycling education and fire department recruitment, the City announced today.
The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work created within television and across video for all screens. With over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents, Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world.
City of Evanston Channel 16 received the following Telly Awards:
- Local TV, Campaign - Not-for-Profit, Silver Winner - Learn the Recycling Basics
- Local TV, General - Public Interest/Awareness, Silver Winner - Keep Food and Liquids Out of Your Recycling Cart
- Local TV, Craft - Use of 3D Animation, Bronze Winner - Keep Food and Liquids Out of Your Recycling Cart
- Local TV, General - Public Service/PSA, Bronze Winner - Join the Evanston Fire Department
Separately, the City also won a Hometown Media Award in the "Animation" category for its video, Keep Food and Liquids Out of Your Recycling Cart. The Hometown Media Awards is an annual awards program established to honor and promote community media and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Government (PEG) access channels.
The City's recycling education campaign, launched in September 2019, encouraged residents to reduce waste and greenhouse gas pollution by recycling properly. As part of the campaign, the City created three original animated videos to address common recycling issues, including keeping plastic bags and food waste out of recycling containers, and avoiding "wish-cycling" — or placing items in the cart that don't belong.
Join the Evanston Fire Department, created in December 2019, was produced as part of the Fire Department's efforts to attract and recruit a broad, diverse group of candidates for hiring.
