City to Begin Motor Fuel Tax Street Resurfacing Project the Week of June 15
Beginning the week of June 15, the City will be contracting road resurfacing work on thirteen street segments throughout Evanston. This project will be completed over a twelve week period and construction will be done in two phases.
The actual date when construction is planned for each street will be noted on the temporary "NO PARKING" signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of work. The construction activities will create some inconvenience for abutting residents, but all attempts will be made to minimize these inconveniences. Construction zone daytime "NO PARKING" restrictions will be intermittent throughout the duration of the project; evening and night parking, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., will always be available. Street sweeping and/or neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one block radius around the construction zone when temporary daytime "NO PARKING" is in effect.
The funding for this project will come from the City’s Rebuild Illinois and Motor Fuel Tax Funds and there will be no direct charge for the property owners on these streets. Project work includes roadway base repair, sewer work, replacement of asphalt surface from curb to curb along with selected ADA sidewalk replacement and driveway aprons, and curb replacement as needed. Specific locations included in each phase of construction are listed below.
