Evanston community members are invited to participate in the City’s National Night Out (NNO) celebration event taking place on Tuesday, August 1, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Centennial Park, 1631 Sheridan Rd.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes public safety, community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to help make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
The City’s Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with the Evanston Police Department to host this family-friendly evening. As a part of the “My City, Your City, Our City'' initiative, there will be an obstacle course, food trucks, games, and a movie. Evanston Police Department Officers will also be onsite with NNO giveaways.
The featured movie, Wonder Woman, will serve as a tribute to all of the special women who are heroes in our community every day, including our Evanston Police Chief Schenita Stewart. The movie will begin at 6 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to wear Wonder Woman attire to the event and to bring a chair, blanket and snacks to enjoy the movie.
Residents are also asked to turn on their front porch lights that evening as a display of unity.
