Labor Day Holiday Weekend Schedule

The City of Evanston has announced facility closures and service schedules for the 2025 Labor Day holiday weekend, Saturday, August 30 through Monday, September 1.

Refuse Collection

No collections will occur on Monday, September 1. Monday through Thursday trash, recycling, and food and yard waste collections will occur one day later in the week than usual.

Facilities

  • The Prieto Community Center and both Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, September 1.

  • The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, Levy Senior Center, and Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be closed on Sunday, August 31, and Monday, September 1, except for rentals. 

  • Morton City Hall and the Chandler-Newberger Center will be closed from Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1. 

  • The Robert Crown Community Center will be open on Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31, for regularly scheduled programming. It will be closed on Monday, September 1. 

Beaches

The swimming season ends after Labor Day. Before you head to the beach, check the City's Lakefront and Beaches page for the status of beaches and swimming availability.

311

The Evanston 311 Center will be closed Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1.

Parking

No street cleaning will occur on Monday, September 1; street cleaning parking restrictions will not be in effect. Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on Labor Day. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored.
