On Saturday, September 23, 2017, Mayor Stephen Hagerty kicked off the City's next Climate Action and Resilience Planning process at an event at the Evanston Ecology Center. The Mayor has appointed 16 members of the community to the Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP) Working Group. Their task is to create a plan for the City. The group, made up of 16 voting members and a student representative from Evanston Township High School, will have until October 2018 to complete their plan and present it to Evanston's City Council.
Details about CARP can be found on this page including: a member list, meeting schedule, minutes, agendas and packets, as well as contact information for the City staff liaison for the group. If you are looking for additional information related to the climate and sustainability work of the City, please visit the Sustainability webpage.
There are three primary ways to be engaged in the CARP Planning Process:
- Attend Meetings - See below for the schedule of open public meetings. Additionally, there will be specific feedback sessions with different organizations and open to the public throughout the process and some of those can be found on the City's calendar.
- Submit Comments to CARP - CARP has created a webform that consists of 6 questions. CARP is looking for community feedback on how to best combat climate change and prepare for the impacts in Evanston.
- Become a Technical Adviser- Do you have a specific expertise you feel would be helpful to CARP as they develop their plan? Submit an application to be a Technical Adviser and help provide insight and feedback on CARP's work first hand.
