Contractor Registration

Beginning January 2, 2018, all contractors performing work within City limits are required to register with the City, including but not limited to General Contractors, Electrical, Carpentry, Concrete, Excavation, Masonry, Landscaping, Fence, Roofing and Sign contractors. To obtain the registration, the contractor must provide the City with a completed registration application and an original certificate of insurance or policy declaration documenting that the contractor carries general liability insurance with a minimum of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000.00) per occurrence, bodily injury insurance with a minimum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) per occurrence, property damage insurance with a minimum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) per occurrence and workers’ compensation insurance at the statutory minimum amounts.

Fees (renewable annually)
General Contractor: $125
Trade Contractor: $100

Submittal Requirements

➢ Completed/Signed Contractor Registration Application
➢ State Regulated Contractors:
copy of state license
➢ Electrical Contractor:
copy of license from testing municipality
➢ Certificate of Insurance
● Per occurrence:
$100,000 general liability; $300,000 bodily injury; $100,000 property damage
Workers Compensation per Illinois Statutory Limits or check box to attest that company does not have workers compensation coverage and the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act does not require the company to retain sick coverage.

Complete the Contractor Registration Form and send with copy of Certificate of Insurance to  All documents must be submitted as pdfs. Review  the Contractor Registration Requirements which provides a table of required documents by type of contractor registration. 

Contractor List Complete and provide with Building Permit Application.

Complete the Online contractor Registration Renewal and Payment Form
Please enter your permit number (same as your registration number), ex. 20LICC-0000 and upload a valid certificate of insurance. If you do not have your permit number you may search our database using the exact name of the business to locate it.  Use the State Licence Number (permit number) to submit for renewal.
