Housing Rehab Loans

Rehab House 2The City of Evanston is dedicated to promoting safe, sanitary and decent housing for its citizens.  To facilitate this, the City offers a Housing Rehabilitation Program, funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which provides financing to maintain and improve the quality of Evanston’s housing stock that is occupied by low and moderate income households. The Rehabilitation Program provides income eligible owner-occupants and owners of residential investment properties that are occupied primarily by income eligible households, with financial assistance in the form of below market rate loans to accomplish this purpose.

The Housing Rehabilitation Program Addresses:

  1. Health, safety and accessibility items,
  2. Elements which will lengthen the useful life of the structure, and
  3. Energy resource conservation
