The new construction will be a 37,800 sf three-story building and will house a Mainstage Theatre, large public lobby, cafe and lounge, multi-purpose rehearsal hall, theatre support spaces, administrative offices and on-site box office. a sophisticated state-of-the-art 300-seat theatre auditorium, with a balcony and large backstage; administrative offices for full-time employees; support spaces for theatre craft; multiple bathrooms on all levels; a loading dock for scenic and theatrical elements to load-in; and a 3rd Floor roof top deck adjacent to a large rehearsal hall/event space.

YWCA Planned Development

The YWCA Evanston/Northshore submits a planned development application and certificate of appropriateness application in order to demolish the formerly single-family residential structure on the southern portion of the property, construct a modern, two-story entrance addition on the south façade of the existing, one-story administration center and pool building, construct a four-story domestic violence shelter and administration building on the northern portion of the property, construct a second-floor walkway above the existing administration and pool building to provide connectivity between the aforementioned new entrance and new shelter building, as well as to and from the existing three-story building on the property, expand and reconfigure the south parking field, construction a new north parking field and make various office, classroom, meeting and recreational enhancements.
Current Status: Plan Commission voted, 5-1, to recommend approval of the planned development

The applicant, Davis Street Development Company 2015, LLC, submits a planned development application to construct a 19-story Class Aoffice building with 40 parking spaces and 4,510 SF of ground floor retail space. The proposed development will preserve the landmarked University Building at the corner of Davis Street and Chicago Avenue. The owners of The Autobarn and Oscar Isberian Rugs shared their intentions of exploring opportunities for the redevelopment of their properties on the west side of Chicago Avenue, between Greenleaf and Lee Streets, as they reposition their businesses’ footprints on Chicago Avenue. The parcels are zoned a mix of C1a and C2, and directly abut the CTA railway embankment.
The property owners, in partnership with the City, initiated a process to engage both the community and City staff on feedback for the site prior to the selection of a developer and determining a development project for the site. The public was invited to participate in two initial opportunities, summaries of input is provided below:
