You can become more involved in emergency preparedness and response. You can take a Community Emergency Response Team class to become better prepared for yourself, your family and your neighbors.
CERT participants receive training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
In the event of a serious man-made or natural disaster, the Office of Emergency Preparedness will activate the Emergency Operations Center and call upon special teams made up of responders from City's emergency field support services that include emergency communications volunteers and CERT Members.
