The EFD Lifeguard application portal has closed. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by the start of their employment.

Applications will be processed on a rolling basis until staffing needs have been met for Summer 2025.

A staff member in Human Resource or the Fire Department will reach out to applicants about scheduling a videocall interview. Interviews should last around 15 minutes.

Initial offers of employment will be conditional. Employees must pass the internal Lifeguard Academy and possess proper certifications to work on shift as a lifeguard.

All applicants will need to fill out new hire paperwork each year of seasonal employment. Detailed instructions will be sent once an offer of employment is accepted. 

All applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment will also need to pass a health screening prior to the start of employment, and be fingerprinted if over 18 before the first day of employment. More details will be provided at a future date.

The Academy for returning lifeguards will be from May 19 through June 6. This will consist of up to 30 hours of training in that timeframe.

The Academy for new lifeguards will be from May 27 through June 6. This will consist of up to 40 hours of training in that timeframe.

Additional Academies for returning and/or new lifeguards may be scheduled based on need an availability of instructors.

Employees will be compensated for their training hours while in the Academy.

Ongoing Training
Additional training will be provided to employees throughout the season. Additional details will be provided at a future date.

Manager and Supervisor Training
Additional mandatory training will be provided at the beginning of the Summer for Lifeguard Managers and Lifeguard Supervisors. Additional details will be provided to those employees at a future date.
