The Vision for the New Center:
Drop-In Play Activities
The Center provides a large "Let's Play Room" that includes play houses, toys, books, and opportunities ideal for kids 1-6 years old to socialize, imagine, and explore.
A Permanent Home for Accessible Recreation Programming
Historically, programming and events for the Accessible Recreation Department have been scattered throughout the City's community centers. This building provides an opportunity for a permanent home for Accessible Recreation staff and programming. The Sensory Room, a dedicated space to support sensory regulation is now open. In addition, sensory and communications tools are available at the front desk as well as a large communication board in the Let's Play space.
Gymnastics Programming Space
The new Center provides additional space for our popular gymnastic programming. With an emphasis on beginner gymnastics, we hope to alleviate waiting lists for our existing gymnastics programming at the Chandler-Newberger Center.
Birthday Parties Space
Our birthday parties are increasing in popularity every year. Rooms are available in the new Center for the Ecology Center to host their themed birthday parties as well as for families who are interested in providing guests time in the Let's Play space.
Summer & Day Off School Camp
New space to expand our summer camps and day off school camps for kindergarten to 5th grade.
Licensed Preschool
The Center will soon allow additional subsidized preschool services on the south side of Evanston.
Cafe
Parents can soon be grab a cup of coffee and a pastry while your kids are enjoying drop in play activities.
Recreational Programming Opportunities
We are expanding our programing to community members from all Park and Recreation divisions.
