Welcome to Winter Break Camp at Chandler-Newberger

We are excited to bring you a wide variety of winter break camp options this winter! Our programs are designed to offer something for everyone from ages 4-14.

All winter camp

All winter break camps will be held at the Chandler-Newberger Community Center located at 1028 Central Street. We are across the street from Fire Station #3 and just west of the Central Street purple line stop. Our building is located at the south end of the parking lot. Parking permits can be obtained at the Chandler-Newberger office, or you may use the 15-minute loading zone on Lincoln Street or on the southwest side of the parking lot off of Central Street when dropping off your camper.

Participants in programming at the Chandler-Newberger Center, must have the form below on file for each program they attend. Please return the completed for to the Chandler-Newberger office on the first day of your child's Winter Break Camp

Jedi Training Fencing Camp

Using a combination of Tai Chi and Fencing, our resident "Yoda," Diana Unger, will help your young Star Wars fan become a real Jedi. Focusing on self-awareness and working to increase self-confidence, young Jedi's will learn how to become one with the "Force." Chandler-Newberger will provide masks, jackets and weapons for those participating in the Jedi Fencing Training Camp. However, participants must purchase a glove and underarm protector as these are personal items. They may be purchased for $15 each from the instructor or you may purchase them on your own. To purchase from the instructor complete the forms below and return them no later than December 12 to Michelle Tompkins. For more information on ordering the items please call 847-448-8681. Please note, there is no extended care for this camp.

Chess Winter Camp

Named the most successful chess program for kids by the Illinois Chess Federation, Chess Wizards instructors bring excitement, challenges and extensive knowledge of the game of chess to our camp series offered at Chandler-Newberger. Each year over 100 participants sign up to learn, compete and perfect their chess skills through one of the several Chess Wizards Chess Camps offered. With a combination of chess puzzles, group activities, chess game variations and one-on-one competition and instruction, the Wizards show campers that along with the cognitive, social and emotional benefits of learning to play chess, it is a lot of FUN! Winter Chess Camp Welcome Letter

Robothink Robotics Winter Break Camp

Offering academically oriented STEM programs focusing on robotics for budding, intermediate and/or advanced students, Robothink challenges campers to build, code and play with robots. Aligned with Next Gen Science standards, this camp encourages campers to be hands on and engaged in problem solving formulation and solving it through design. This winter break camp will have campers build battle robots, participate in robotic soccer competitions and design sensor robots. Robothink instructors offer different curricula to adjust for differing experiences and levels, as well as those campers who attend half-day, full-day or even both weeks of camp! If you are looking for a full-day camp experience, sign up for the AM and PM session and bring a lunch, Robothink instructors will supervise your young engineer from noon-1pm. Aside from the lunch supervision, no additional extended care is offered for this program.

Winter Pee Wee Sports Camp

A camp just for your preschooler, the winter Pee Wee Sports Camp will get them running, jumping and even bowling! Campers will experience a variety of activities that show them how fun sports can be. Focus is on teamwork, cooperation and of course fun while introducing campers to the basic rules and skills of various sports activities. Camp will also include a field trip to Classic Bowl in Morton Grove. Campers will get the chance to ride a bus and learn to bowl with their new camp friends.

Winter Break Basketball Camp

Learn the fundamentals of basketball in our winter break Basketball Camp. Focusing on skill development, campers will participate in daily games and contests. The registration deadline for this camp is December 19. If we do not have enough participants by this date, the camp will be cancelled, so grab your friends and sign up today!
