Residents may qualify or re-qualify for certain benefits in the community, such as Subsidized Taxicab Program, Wheel Tax Discount (formerly Vehicle Sticker), Recreation Program Fee Assistance, Yard Waste Stickers & Cart Discount, and the Handyman Program.

Senior Lunch Program

The City of Evanston Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department was awarded funding for a senior congregate lunch program. The grant is administered through AgeOptions, the regional agency that distributes federal funding under the Older Americans Act. The grant offsets the cost of each meal and no eligible senior shall be denied participation because of inability to contribute.

Program fee assistance is available to qualified Evanston residents on a sliding scale according to the number of family members in relation to the total family income. Scholarships are not available for special events or trips. If you are interested in obtaining information about this process, please ask at the Levy Center office.

At least one trip per month is offered. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a discounted fee for Levy Center members.

Snow Shoveling Assistance

Are you looking for assistance with snow removal during the winter months? Or are you hoping to find a way to connect with your neighbors to offer your assistance shoveling? Older adults and those with disabilities who are seeking help and those who would like to volunteer are encouraged to sign up for the City of Evanston's Snow Shoveling program. This service connects residents who are unable to shovel their own walks with volunteers who are willing to provide snow shoveling services.
