Evanston's official trick-or-treat hours are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on October 31.
Trunk or Treat - October 25
Firetrucks, police cars, and other awesome City of Evanston vehicles will take part in our first trunk (trick) or treat event. Held in the Chandler-Newberger parking lot off Central Street, young trick-or-treaters can see how City of Evanston vehicles dress up for Halloween! After your stroll through the parking lot, join us in the Chandler-Newberger Center for our indoor playground, snacks, and craft activities. This event, for children ages 5 and under and their families, will take place Friday, October 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Purchase tickets ahead at the Chandler-Newberger Center, or get in for free with the donation of new, unwrapped toys, books, and/or non-perishable food items for Mayor Hagerty’s Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive.
Farmers' Market Fall Fest - October 26
Celebrate Fall Fest at the Market on Saturday, October 26, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Visit the Spud Club tent; all kids will get a pumpkin to decorate (age 10 and under – limit one pumpkin per kid!). You can win a big decorated pumpkin donated by Elko Farm if you guess that pumpkin’s correct weight. Join in the Pumpkin Roll, pumpkin decorating, and other guessing games! Everyone (kids and adults) are encouraged to wear costumes to the market!
Main-Dempster Mile Spooky Saturday - October 26
Kids of all ages are welcome to enjoy trick-or-treat with the merchants of the Main-Dempster Mile while stopping at special events along the way. Bug-a-Boo Non-Scary Halloween Walk - October 26
Join Ecology Center staff for our annual Halloween event to highlight the creatures that call the North Shore Channel home. You’ll meet these characters (costumed volunteers) outside as you travel around the Ladd Arboretum and enjoy activities and snacks at the Ecology Center. This event is for children ages 2-10 and their families. Admission is $5 resident, $7 non-resident. Please register for a start time by searching for activity #132115.
Trick-or-Treat Trot for Tails Walkathon - October 26
Trick-or-Treat Trot for Tails Walkathon is a fundraiser for the Evanston Animal Shelter Association, the nonprofit organization that funds and manages the care of the animals at the Evanston Animal Shelter. Our goal is to raise $30,000! As a no-kill shelter, nearly 70% of our expenses cover verterinary care and behavioral training. The walk is dog and family friendly, so bring your whole crew and we’ll see you there! Dress up in costume and we’ll have treats along the way – for you and your pup! Your pet can also participate in our pet costume contest! Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. on the east lawn of the Charles Gates Dawes House, home of the Evanston History Center and right across the street from the Evanston lakefront.

Downtown Evanston Trick-or-Treat Stroll - October 26
Celebrate Halloween in downtown Evanston on Saturday, October 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Trick-or-Treat Stroll! Bring yourself and your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews or neighbors in costume to trick-or-treat at downtown businesses from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and take part in special Halloween-themed activities. New this year, there is a Costume Parade from Raymond Park to Fountain Square starting at 11 a.m. Interested families should meet at Raymond Park at 10:45 a.m. to walk at 11 a.m. Once there, you can pick up a Trick-or-Treat map. At 1 p.m., we're also hosting a pet costume contest at the south plaza of Fountain Square!
Preschool Halloween Party - October 31
Wear your costume and enjoy games, prizes, music, refreshments, and non-frightening fun at the Robert Crown Community Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $5 per family. Zombie Scramble - November 2
The Evanston Recreation Division presents the 6th annual Zombie Scramble event. The event is a 2-mile course where participants attempt to outwit and outrun "zombies." Your goal? Finish the course with all of your "lives" intact. Admission is $20. To receive the early bird fee of $15, register before October 11.
