The Evanston Police Department has developed a free online bicycle registration form in order to reduce bicycle theft, make registration of bicycles easier for Evanston residents and to help locate owners of recovered bicycles.
Bicycle owners now can fill out an online registration form and stop by the police department service desk to pick up the green City of Evanston bicycle registration sticker, if they wish to display the sticker on their bicycle. The Police Department is located at 1454 Elmwood Avenue and the service desk is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Bicycle registration stickers can be obtained any time after the online submission is completed.
Information about all previously registered bicycles still is stored in a database at the police department and re-registration in the new online system is not required. Bicycle owners submitting registrations online must enter certain fields of information which are marked with red asterisk. The system will not accept duplicate submissions of bicycle serial numbers. If a bicycle was previously registered online and re-submitted a second time, that bicycle owner will then be required to register the bicycle in person at the Evanston Police Department’s record bureau during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The City of Evanston bicycle registration form is available below. Additional questions about online bicycle registration can be answered by calling the community strategies office of the Evanston Police Department at 847/866-5019 or by calling 3-1-1.
