The City of Evanston provides a discount on the City Wheel Tax prices to Evanston income-eligible seniors over the age of 65 and residents who qualify for Illinois Benefit Access due to disability.

Every resident, business, firm or corporation must pay wheel tax for each vehicle registered with the Secretary of State, State of Illinois, to an address within the corporate limits of the City of Evanston. Wheel Tax expires every year.  Wheel tax must be paid for the following year by December 31.

Evanston Benefit Card cardholders receive a discount of 50% off the cost of one vehicle per household.

Cardholders may pay their wheel tax at the City Collector’s office, Levy Center or Fleetwood-Jourdain Center and receive a discount by simply showing the Benefit Card Program.
