Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, approximately 1.9 million Illinois residents, including many in Evanston, will experience delays or interruptions in their November 2025 SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits.

Several federal courts have ordered the Trump Administration to partially fund SNAP benefits for November. Families are encouraged to plan ahead, monitor updates from the Illinois Department of Human Services, and explore local food resources for additional support.
