Davis Street Closure for Equipment Removal
Davis Street, west bound from Judson Street to Hinman Avenue will be closed for approximately five days, weather permitting, for the purpose of removing equipment starting Monday, July 6, 2009.
Westbound traffic on Davis Street in the construction area at the Mather Building will be re-routed according to the attached map during the entire time including evenings. The sidewalks will still be accessible by pedestrians and the alley ways will be open for garbage collection.

NSMAD To Conduct July 1st Mosquito Adulticiding
The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District (NSMAD) will be conducting targeted adult mosquito control operations on WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 2009, in portions of EVANSTON, GLENCOE, GLENVIEW, MORTON GROVE, NORTHBROOK, NORTHFIELD, SKOKIE, WILMETTE and WINNETKA between the hours of 8:00 PM - 2:00 AM, weather permitting.

Art Under Glass Project June 17
Art Under Glass Project, a collaborative effort of the Evanston Arts Council's Arts & Business Committee and Evmark. The project will be dedicated with an opening reception at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, in the lobby at 708 Church Street. The project aims to beautify currently vacant downtown storefronts with artwork by Evanston artists.   Full Story

Custer's Last Stand Festival of the Arts June 20-21
The fair began in 1972 on historic Custer Avenue named after General George Armstrong Custer in gratitude for his service to the Union during the Civil War. Each year since then artists, craftspeople, antique dealers, restauranteurs, entertainers and the business community get together with 60,000 attendees for this award-winning Northshore tradition. 20th Annual Evanston Garden Walk July 12
The 20th annual Evanston Garden Walk, by Keep Evanston Beautiful (KEB), will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2009, from Noon to 5 p.m. Featured are seven private gardens and 3 public gardens in Evanston. The Garden Walk is a nice way to gather design ideas and observe plants that do well in our area. You will have a chance to talk to the owners in most of the featured gardens. Free Youth Fishing Program
Once again this summer, young anglers, age 5 to 15, can grab a pole and fish for free on Saturday mornings at the pond in Lovelace Park, located on Gross Point Road at Thayer St. Sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, this is a catch-and-release program designed to give youth a chance to experience firsthand the fun of fishing.   Full Story

Water Restrictions
The City has an outdoor watering ban from May 15 through September 15, Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 4p.m. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and all weekends are excluded.   Full Story

IEPA Notice of Intent to Issue a Categorical Exclusion
In accordance with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Loan Rules, Title 35, Subtitle F, Chapter II, Part 662, Section 662.520(j), (State Environmental Review), the IEPA has determined that the City of Evanston’s water main replacement and the purchase and installation of an intake heating system on the 54-inch water intake pipe can be excluded from a detailed environmental impact review.   Full Story
