Cook County Home Rule Tax Change
The Cook County Board of Commissioners passed the County’s fiscal year 2012 budget. Per the County budget, many of the taxes administered by the County were changed. One of them is Cook County Home Rule tax. The County Home rule tax rate would go down from 1.25% to 1.00% effective January 1, 2012. This will result in to a reduced tax rate of 9.25% on general merchandise in the City of Evanston starting January 1, 2012.
