This facility achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the GOLD level under the NEW CONSTRUCTION rating system. This is the first fire station with LEED certification in Illinois. At the time of accreditation, there were only 10 other fire stations with LEED GOLD certification in the U.S.A.
